About Us:
The Cobrinha Aliante team is excited to open in May 2024 as part of the renowned Cobrinha BJJ affiliation. The academy’s story and mission is rooted in the history of Cobrinha as well as head instructor Steve Taligatos. We recognize the numerous positive impacts Jiu-Jitsu can have on an individual and are eager to pass them on to the North Las Vegas community.
Here, students can expect to make the most of every minute they spend on the mats. Beginners will quickly dive into foundational Jiu-Jitsu techniques in a fun, supportive environment. Those with competitive goals will further hone their ability to perform and adapt under pressure while grappling. All are welcome here regardless of age or experience, and all will benefit from the stress relief and mental health improvement that BJJ training provides. Our History:
Cobrinha Aliante is proud to be an affiliate of the Cobrinha family of Jiu-Jitsu academies. Cobrinha BJJ was originally established over a decade ago by Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles in California. Since then, Cobrinha has grown to include more than 10 affiliate schools around the globe.
Cobrinha Aliante is currently set to open its doors in May 2024 under head instructor Steve Taligatos. Steve started on the Jiu-Jitsu path in 2010 with a goal of losing weight and gaining confidence. What started as a self-improvement endeavor turned into so much more. As years went on and Steve honed his BJJ techniques, he went on to secure multiple tournament championships and victories. Earning his Black Belt under Cobrinha’s Hector Vasquez and Ruben “Cobrihna” Charles brings this journey full circle.
With well over a decade of martial arts experience, Steve is in a prime position to lead Cobrinha Aliante. He aims to translate his own story into his instruction, guiding students along a similar path of passion, transformation, and development. Jiu-Jitsu helped change Steve’s life for the better, and he looks forward to helping others change their lives too.
